It starts with Ms Amy, or Sis Amy which is what her close friends prefer calling her.

Ms Amy was born in New Orleans and grew up in the Ninth Ward. Amy growing up has always had a love for cooking but was especially fascinated with deserts and sweets. And Amy would challenge herself to make various pastries and other deserts. Amy would often spend time with her God Mother Leola Washington who took the time teaching Ms Amy how to make Praline Candy. Ms Amy have been making this New Orleans treat since she was about 12 years old.

And now there’s Akhirah, Amy’s daughter who enjoy cooking, watching various tv cooking programs, and hanging out in the kitchen with mom.

Ms Amy with her husband Arron had just decided to do something simple and sweet, Akhirah’s Praline Candy and Coffee House!

The aim of Akhirah's is to provide quality Beignets, Praline Candy, Southern Pastries and Fresh Roasted Coffees all at competitive prices to meet the demand of our local market for our neighbors, tourists, online consumers, and fundraising channels. Our goal is to develop a chain of Akhirah's Beignets and Coffee House first in the Chicago area and creating more jobs, hopefully employing some of Chicago's homeless.
